I am an Associate Professor at De Montfort University, leading the Biomolecular Technology Group within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. My research specialises in developing and applying DNA-based authentication methods for quality control in herbal medicines, food products, and aromatherapy.
With a PhD in Molecular Plant Biology from the University of Warwick, I have built a strong research portfolio in molecular identification of plant materials. Since joining De Montfort University, I have led projects advancing DNA barcoding techniques, contributing to regulatory and industry standards. My work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and I have authored a REF Impact Case Study on DNA authentication methods for herbal medicines.
Beyond research, I collaborate with industry partners to provide molecular analytical services for botanicals and serve as an Associate Editor for The Journal of Horticultural Science and Biotechnology.
Always open to academic and industry collaborations in plant molecular biology, DNA barcoding, and quality assurance of natural products.
